Over 90 girls in Lakewood, NJ remain without school just a week before the start of September. These girls had previously attended Ateres Tziporah Girls School, which closed down. Parents have been trying to get into existing schools, but have not been successful for a number of reasons, including the fact that virtually all other schools are overfilled. In addition, many school offices are closed due to the summer recess.
Rumors that some parents are looking into homeschooling or to bussing their children to schools in other locales are thus far unsubstantiated.

The hachtarah of Rav Bentzion Kook, a longtime talmid of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt”l, as rov of the Avi Ezri kehillah of Petach Tikvah was held at the home of Rav Chaim Kanievsky.
The event was attended by such luminaries as Rav Meir Tzvi Bergman, rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Rashbi; Rav Yitzchok Grodzensky, rosh kollel of Kollel Toras Avrohom and father-in-law of Rav Kook; Rav Avrohom Yitzchok Kook, rosh yeshiva of Meor HaTalmud; and others.

Twelfth Siyum HaShas Broke New Ground for all of Klal Yisroel

When some 90,000 yidden united seven years ago at the 12th Siyum HaShas, it was by far the greatest gathering of Kavod Shamayim and Kavod HaTorah in contemporary history – coming after the previous Siyumim set record after record.

It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the petirah of Rav Moishe Dovid Labkovsky zt”l. He was in his upper 50s.
Rav Moishe Dovid passed away on Shabbos from a sudden heart attack. He was in Virginia at the time, visiting his son-in-law and daughter, who were vacationing there.
Rav Moishe Dovid was an outstanding talmid chochom and medakdeik b’mitzvos, who devoted his life to limud haTorah, avodas Hashem, and spreading Torah and dikduk b’mitzvos and proper hashkafah to other Yidden. He lived a life that was kulo Torah, a value that he passed on to his wonderful children.

Following a petition of the Women’s Lobby, the Haifa District Court decided to call off the planned Mordechai Ben David and Motti Steinmetz concert scheduled for men only tomorrow in Haifa.
Judge Avraham Elyakim ordered the cancellation today, explaining that “it was a performance for men only.” Thus, since the concert arrangers wanted to use public funds for the event, it could not proceed if only men were permitted to attend.
The judge stated in his decision that “this judgment does not express a position on how to regular other events. There is also no impediment to events for the chareidi public, and it would be beneficial for the Haifa municipality to learn the municipal guidelines and act accordingly.”
