France and Saudi Arabia are reportedly developing a proposal to disarm Hamas, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the talks. According to those sources, Saudi officials have been in direct contact with Hamas leadership in an effort to secure the group’s demobilization and transition into a non-military political entity. While it remains unclear whether France has engaged Hamas directly—especially given the European Union’s designation of the group as a terrorist organization—both nations are said to be collaborating on a plan that would allow Hamas to retain limited political power in exchange for disarmament.

President Donald Trump is deeply “saddened and outraged” following the tragic killing of two Israeli Embassy employees, Sarah Milgrim and Yaron Lischinsky, in Washington, DC, on Wednesday night, according to a statement made Thursday by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt shared emotional details about the victims, saying, “Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were a beautiful young couple. In fact, we’ve learned that Yaron was planning to propose to Sarah next week in Jerusalem.”
She relayed the heartbreak expressed by Yaron’s father, Daniel, who recalled how close the couple had been. “They were in love, the Embassy told us they were like a star couple at the Embassy. I never expected something like this, he had his whole life before him,” he said.

Yedidya Diena, a Toronto native and finance major, has been named the 2025 valedictorian of Touro University’s Lander College for Men (LCM). His academic journey reflects a blend of intellectual curiosity, personal discipline, and a strong commitment to values and growth. From an early age, Yedidya considered himself a “business-minded individual.” “I ran a few small businesses growing up, which helped me realize early on that I wanted to pursue a career in the business world,” he said. But it was during his time at LCM that he discovered his professional direction. “I wasn’t immediately sure which path to take, accounting or finance. After speaking with professors and exploring my options, I narrowed it down to finance,” he said.

The Supreme Court on Thursday effectively ended a publicly funded Catholic charter school in Oklahoma, dividing 4-4. The outcome keeps in place an Oklahoma court decision that invalidated a vote by a state charter school board to approve the St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School, which would have been the nation’s first religious charter school. But it leaves the issue unresolved nationally. The one-sentence notice from the court provides an unsatisfying end to one of the term’s most closely watched cases.

A woman accused of spitting on the top federal prosecutor for the nation’s capital was arrested Thursday on a federal assault charge, court records show. Then-acting U.S. Attorney Ed Martin Jr. was being interviewed on video by a Newsmax reporter on a sidewalk outside his office on May 8 when Emily Gabriella Sommer approached him and spit on his left shoulder, a deputy U.S. Marshal’s affidavit says. Video captured Sommer swearing at Martin, calling him “a disgusting man” and yelling, “My name is Emily Gabriella Sommer, and you are served,” before walking away, the affidavit says. The encounter occurred on the same day that President Donald Trump pulled Martin’s nomination to remain U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia on a more permanent basis.

The United States Mint will stop producing pennies next year, phasing out a coin that has been in circulation for over two centuries, the Wall Street Journal reports. The move is part of a long-running, bipartisan campaign to axe the lowest-denomination currency, which is rarely spent and costs the government around $85 million each year to produce. Of the 3 billion pennies produced each year, up to $68 million worth are either lost or thrown away, with the Federal Reserve estimating that around 60 percent of all actively circulating pennies, totaling around $14 billion, sit indefinitely in coin jars and change purses.

Iran’s top diplomat warned Thursday that his country would take “special measures” to defend its nuclear facilities if Israel continues to threaten them, raising the stakes further ahead of a new round of talks with the United States. The comments by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi offered no specifics on what Tehran would do, but international inspectors already have seen their access limited to Iran’s program. That’s even as Tehran enriches uranium to 60% purity, a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90%.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee sat down for an exclusive conversation with Arutz Sheva–Israel National News, sharing reflections on his hectic first weeks in the position. “I have not come up for air since I’ve come off the airplane,” he remarked, highlighting the whirlwind pace of his new role.
Recalling the moment President Donald Trump appointed him to the post, Huckabee described how it came as a surprise. “I didn’t ask him for the job, I never lobbied for it, I never had a conversation with him about it until the day he called me a few days after the election. President Trump doesn’t ask you, he tells you. He called and said: ‘Mike, you’re going to be Ambassador to Israel, you’re going to be great.'”

Sales of previously occupied U.S. homes fell in April, as elevated mortgage rates and rising prices discouraged prospective homebuyers during what’s traditionally the busiest time of the year for the housing market. Existing home sales dropped 0.5% last month, from March, to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 4 million units, the National Association of Realtors said Thursday. The sales decline marks the slowest sales pace for the month of April going back to 2009 in the wake of the U.S. housing crisis. March’s sales pace was also the slowest for that month going back to 2009. Sales fell 2% compared with April last year. The latest home sales fell slightly short of the 4.10 million pace economists were expecting, according to FactSet.

IDF Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued a message on Thursday directed at the population of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, cautioning them about Hamas operations being carried out in civilian areas of their city.
Adraee’s post included the statement: “This is a warning about Hamas elements hiding among you!” Alongside his warning, he shared an aerial photo highlighting specific sites that the IDF says are being used by Hamas fighters.
He stated that the image illustrates the way Hamas operatives embed themselves in densely populated civilian areas, relying on infrastructure meant for public use while conducting terrorist activities.
