In a deeply moving visit, the mashgiach, Rav Moshe Dovid Lefkowitz, paid a visit to the home of Rav Moshe Tzadkah, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Porat Yosef in the city of Yerushalayim.
The two gedolim engaged in an extended and pleasant conversation, discussing pressing matters of the time. During the course of their meeting, they also reminisced fondly about the past, recalling the close friendship that had existed between the previous generation of Torah giants—Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz zt”l, father of the mashgiach, and Rav Yehuda Tzadkah zt”l, father of the rosh yeshiva. Their bond, noted the two gedolim, was a true example for the next dor.
At one point in the visit, Rav Moshe Dovid turned to the rosh yeshiva and said, “Though I know you have no need for chizuk, I nevertheless came to be mechazeik you with all my might—for your unwavering and steadfast stance as a fortified wall on all issues of our time, especially regarding the matter of the draft of bnei yeshiva.”
The mashgiach added with admiration, “Every statement the rosh yeshiva makes reverberates strongly in every possible place.”
Toward the conclusion of the visit, the mashgiach introduced his grandsons, who had accompanied him, asking the rosh yeshiva to bentch them. Rav Tzadkah offered a single, powerful word: “Tatzliach—You should succeed.” He then explained, “This is the very brocha I personally received from Maran the Chazon Ish zt”l when I once went to his home. He told me that the word Tatzliach encompasses all the brachos found in the Torah.”
