NEW YORK (VINnews) — The victims of the Washington, D.C.

A former Florida Republican congressional candidate accused of stalking and plotting to have his primary opponent murdered by a purported foreign hit squad was sentenced Wednesday to three years in federal prison. William Robert Braddock III, 41, of St. Petersburg was sentenced in Tampa federal court, according to court records. He pleaded guilty in February to sending an interstate transmission of a threat to injure. In 2021, Braddock and U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna were both candidates in the primary election to represent the 13th Congressional District of Florida in the U.S. House of Representatives. Luna eventually won the primary and later the general election. She was re-elected last year.

Missile alert sirens blared at midday on Thursday in Jerusalem, Gush Etzion, the Yam Hamelech area, Yehuda and Shomron, and central Israel. Shortly later, the IDF spokesperson reported that one missile launched from Yemen was successfully intercepted. Hours earlier on Thursday morning, at about 3:00 a.m., sirens were heard across central Israel, the Sharon and the Shfela lowlands, forcing over a million  Israelis to leave their beds and rush to protected spaces. The IDF spokesperson said that a missile launched by the Houthis in Yemen was intercepted by the Air Force’s Arrow system. MDA reported that one man was lightly injured as he ran for shelter. Israeli politicians blamed Thursday night’s fatal terror attack in Washington D.C. on antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric around the world and many also placed blame on Israeli leftists such as Democrats chairman Yair Golan, who made irresponsible, outrageous, and false statements about Israel on Tuesday, insinuating that IDF soldiers “kill babies as a hobby.” Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu from Otzma Yehudit responded to the attack by saying: “Yair Golan’s blood libels are echoed by Nazis and Israel haters around the world. We’re now paying the price for them with the murderous attack in Washington, and history teaches us that we will continue to pay in the future.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu released a statement on Thursday morning about the fatal terror attack outside the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C., on Thursday evening which took the lives of a young couple, Yaron Lischinsky Hy”d, and Sarah Milgrim, H’yd. In the statement, Netanyahu said that he was updated on the details of the “horrifying antisemitic murder” by Israeli Ambassador to the US  Yechiel Leiter and US Attorney General Pam Bondi. The latter said that US President Donald Trump is involved in managing the event, and America will bring the murderer to justice. “Attorney General Bondi asked to convey her condolences to the families of the young couple who were due to become engaged soon,” the statement said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he is “shocked by the horrifying antisemitic murder” of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, DC, and has ordered heightened security at Israeli diplomatic missions worldwide. He said he was briefed by Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. and U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, who vowed the attacker would be brought to justice. Netanyahu thanked Bondi and President Donald Trump “for standing clearly against antisemitism,” and added, “We are witnessing the terrible price of antisemitism and the wild incitement against the State of Israel.

This appears to be the first publicly released image of Elias Rodriguez, the shooter who murdered two Jewish victims outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC, in a targeted antisemitic attack Wednesday  night.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has long criticized Israel and its policies, said she is “devastated” by the antisemitic terror attack in Washington, DC, that claimed the lives of two Israeli embassy staffers.

The first victim identified in tonight’s terror attack in Washington, DC, is Yaron Lischinskyb HY”D, a research assistant for Middle East & North African Affairs at the Israeli Embassy. Originally from Germany, he made Aliyah at the age of 16.

In response to tonight’s terrorist shooting in Washington, DC, NYC Mayor Eric Adams has directed the NYPD to bolster security at Jewish sites across New York City.

AG BONDI: “I spoke to the President tonight—his prayers are with the Jewish community and all agencies working to keep D.C. safe. We’ll follow the facts and the law. If charged, this defendant will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

Two employees from the Israeli embassy were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C., this evening. One of those killed was confirmed to be a member of the Israeli diplomatic staff.
Barak Ravid of Axios reported on X that the two victims were embassy staffers and had been shot at point-blank range. His report cited a spokesperson from the Israeli embassy as the source.
The attack took place just outside the museum during an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee, drawing heightened concern due to the nature and location of the incident.
ABC News reported that the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is spearheading the investigation into the shooting, indicating that authorities are treating the case with the utmost seriousness.
