The son of a 9/11 victim went after Rep. Ilhan Omar and “the squad” during the annual reading of the names at the 9/11 ceremonies at Ground Zero in Lower Manhattan. Nicholas Haros, Jr. was wearing a black shirt with “Some people did something” as he read out the names of victims. He ended with his mother, Frances Haros, before going into a monologue. He started with, “‘Some people did something’ said a freshman Congresswoman from Minnesota.” The comments were a reference to Rep. Omar’s statement while speaking about the Council of American-Islamic Relations being set up because “some people did something” and because of it people were losing access to civil liberties.

The “Baba Sale Congregation” in Los Angeles was the latest attack against Jews in the United States. This hate crime was committed early on 9/11. According to reports on Twitter, the perpetrators waited for congregants to enter and begin Davening, and then sprayed the graffiti, so that when they come out they should see it. “Free Palestine” was scrawled in large lettering on the building. A video posted to social media (embedded below) shows the Shul painting over the words later on Wednesday morning. The Baba Sale Congregation is located at N. Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles. Police are investigating the incident. *****SIGN UP NOW —- GET YOUR NEWS IN RECORD TIME***** Make sure you are one of the more than 22,000 that signed up to YWN WhatsApp Status to receive news in live time.

Netanyahu and the Likud party’s camera bill that would allow political parties to bring cameras into voting stations was knocked down again on Wednesday in a Knesset meeting. The Likud was unable to gain the necessary 61 votes to pass the bill into law. The Knesset voted 58 to zero for the bill. The vote was boycotted by Yisrael Beitinu and the opposition parties, including Blue and White, Labor, Meretz and the Joint Arab List. Kulanu MK Roy Folkman who is retiring also did not attend the vote. Following the failed vote, the Likud stated, “The camera law fell because of one person – Avigdor Liberman – who joined with Lapid-Gantz and the Arab parties in order to enable fraud and the stealing of votes.

President Donald Trump says his administration will propose banning thousands of flavors used in e-cigarettes amid an outbreak of breathing problems tied to vaping. State and federal health authorities are investigating hundreds of breathing illnesses reported in people who have used e-cigarettes and other vaping devices. No single device, ingredient or additive has been identified. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar says the Food and Drug Administration will develop guidelines to remove all e-cigarette flavors from the market, especially those favored by children. *****SIGN UP NOW —- GET YOUR NEWS IN RECORD TIME***** Make sure you are one of the more than 22,000 that signed up to YWN WhatsApp Status to receive news in live time.

There is less than a week to elections for 22nd Knesset, and many of the candidates are worried, including the chairman of the Yisrael Beitenu party, MK Avigdor Lieberman. This being the case, it appears Lieberman is trying to scare his constituents into not being complacent on Election Day, and to get out and vote, telling the public the right-wing with the chareidim have enough support to form a narrow coalition based on the last poll before elections. He has stated repeatedly if Netanyahu forms a government with the chareidim, it will be a government run by halacha, a theocracy, warning voters they must vote against Likud to prevent this from taking place.

The Knesset held another discussion on the controversial camera bill on Wednesday prior to another vote on its legislation in a Knesset committee later in the day. The camera bill, promoted by Netanyahu and the Likud party, is intended to prevent voter fraud by placing video cameras in every voting station but has been met with fervent opposition from Netanyahu’s rivals. The bill was blocked in a Knesset meeting on Monday when a vote to waive the standard waiting period for bills to be legislated ended in a tie. Netanyahu addressed the Knesset plenum as the discussion opened, saying, “How is it possible to oppose videoing with a cellular device if we have videos in every place we go? Every public space today in Israel and the world is full of cell phones.

“My conflict with the chareidi parties is not about Yiddishkeit” stated Yesh Atid party chairman, MK Yair Lapid, who holds the second slot on the Blue & White party list, during the Maariv and Jerusalem Post Conference taking place on Tuesday. According to Lapid, “They are trying to claim it is about Yiddishkheit. The conflict with them is about learning math and English in the chareidi education system and not about Yiddishkheit. The Vilna Gaon was a mathematical genius. The Rambam was a doctor. King Shlomo spoke 70 languages. Where is the issue with learning English? It is a matter of economics. One of parnasa. If their children do not learn math and English, they will not have the tools for the workplace. They will not be able to support themselves.

Opening statements began Tuesday in the trial of one of the drivers in a chain-reaction crash that killed newly engaged couple Yisroel Levin A”H & Elisheva Kaplan A”H. The prosecutor says traffic camera video shows 35-year-old Rahmel Watkins driving recklessly on a wet, foggy road as he tries to pass his friend, Zakiyyah Stewart, while driving nearly 100 mph. He says the car lost control, crossed into oncoming traffic and into the couple’s car, killing them. Watkins faces multiple manslaughter and other felony charges for the deaths of 20-year-old Yisroel Levin and 21-year-old Elisheva Kaplan. Stewart was arrested and charged with DWI and being the under the influence of drugs. She pleaded guilty in February. Watkins’ attorney says his client was just trying to avoid Stewart’s car.
