Rep. Elise Stefanik gained fame in December 2023 for her grilling of the presidents of Ivy League universities in congressional hearings on the vicious antisemitism that broke out on university campuses following the October 7 massacre. The presidents’ outrageous responses, including refusing to unequivocally say that calling for the genocide of the Jewish people violates their institutions’ code of conduct, led to the resignation of Harvard President Claudine Gay and University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill. On Wednesday, Stefanik questioned several university presidents, including Haverford College President Wendy Raymond, whose responses seemed scripted. She failed to provide even one example of disciplinary action taken against numerous and severe incidents of antisemitism at Haverford since October 7, 2023. [See videos below.] Stefanik later posted a photo of the flashcard! Raymond was using during the hearing, writing: “The president of Haverford showed up to a congressional hearing on antisemitism with flashcards of pre-written answers. Not convictions. Not moral clarity. Flashcards.” “This is what higher ed leadership looks like now—scripted, spineless, and coached to the bone.” (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)
