President Donald Trump delivered a fiery and far-reaching interview on Fox News, in which he recapped his recent tour of Gulf nations, launched into sharp criticisms of President Biden’s actions in the Middle East, and laid out his strategy for bringing stability to the region — particularly in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
When asked about his stance on Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, Trump rejected the notion that he was upset with him. “No, look, he’s got a tough situation. You have to remember, there was October 7 that everyone forgets. It was one of the most violent days in the history of the world, not the Middle East, the world, when you look at the tapes.”
Commenting further on Netanyahu’s demeanor and conduct during the war, Trump observed, “He’s an angry man, who has been hurt badly by the war, but he’s fought hard and bravely.”
Trump went on to assert that the ongoing war in Gaza never would have erupted under his leadership. “Iran had no money. They were stone-cold broke, and they weren’t giving money to Hamas.” He added that once Biden lifted sanctions, Tehran suddenly had access to more than $300 billion, drastically changing the dynamics on the ground.
When pressed about the possibility of achieving peace in the region, Trump responded with certainty. “A hundred percent, we’ll have a solution — it’s either going to be violent or nonviolent. I prefer non-violent, but they’re not going to have a nuclear weapon.”
Trump didn’t mince words in describing Gaza’s current state. “It’s a nasty place. Every ten years they go back. It should become a ‘freedom zone’.”
He also stressed that wealthy nations in the Gulf could be instrumental in rebuilding the region and fostering peace. “They’re really rich and they’re good people. If they had the brains, they could build beautiful communities in the Middle East without going to Sweden or Germany.”
