During a high-profile address to Saudi officials on Tuesday, President Trump urged the kingdom to formally establish diplomatic ties with Israel, framing it as a gesture of personal and regional significance. “You’ll be greatly honoring me,” he said to the assembled dignitaries.
Throughout his remarks, Trump frequently mentioned Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, acknowledging his presence and referring to him directly as he spoke from the front of the room.
Highlighting the peace deals his administration brokered, Trump declared, “With the historic Abraham Accords that we’re so proud of, all the momentum was aimed at peace, aimed very successfully.”
He continued by appealing directly to Saudi Arabia’s leadership, saying, “It’s been an amazing thing, the Abraham Accords, and it’s my fervent hope, wish, and even my dream that Saudi Arabia — a place I have such respect for, especially over the last fairly short period of time, what you’ve been able to do — but will soon be joining the Abraham Accords.”
Trump emphasized the strategic importance of such a move, both for the kingdom and for the broader region. “I think it’ll be a tremendous tribute to your country, and it will be something that’s really going to be very important for the future of the future of the Middle East. I took a risk in doing them, and they’ve been an absolute bonanza for the countries that have joined. The Biden administration did nothing for four years.”
Turning his attention to Tehran, Trump delivered a stern warning, promising intensified pressure if Iran refuses to enter a new agreement regarding its nuclear program. “The time is right now for them to choose is right now — we don’t have a lot of time,” Trump said.
He added that his approach would involve targeting Iran’s oil revenue, saying he would apply “massive maximum pressure” and aim to “drive Iranian oil exports to zero.”
