New reports emerging from Gaza reveal that Dr. Zakaria Sinwar, sibling of high-ranking Hamas members Yahya and Mohammed Sinwar, was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Nuseirat refugee camp. Two of his children, who were reportedly nearby during the attack, also lost their lives.
The Israel Defense Forces conducted the strike late Friday evening, describing it as a targeted operation against a significant figure. The mission was executed by the Israeli Air Force using precision-guided munitions.
Earlier coverage by Saudi news outlet Al-Hadath stated that Mohammed Sinwar’s body had been located in a tunnel in Khan Yunis, which had been previously hit by an IDF strike. Alongside his remains, ten of his close aides were found, as well as the body of Mohammed Shabana, commander of Hamas’s Rafah Brigade. There was no mention of Abu Ubaida, the spokesperson for the group’s military wing, being present in the tunnel at the time.
Israeli authorities commented on the developments, saying that the defense establishment had not yet officially verified the death of Mohammed Sinwar.
The strike that reportedly killed Sinwar took place last week during President Donald Trump’s visit to Israel. The IDF had targeted a Hamas underground command facility located beneath the European Hospital in southern Gaza. According to military sources, the operation aimed at eliminating Mohammed Sinwar and employed approximately 40 bunker-busting bombs, with a combined payload of nearly one ton.
Video footage from that strike captures the moment sudden blasts rocked the area, sending fire and debris into the air as stunned residents fled the scene.
The IDF continues its campaign across Gaza, focusing on dismantling Hamas’s military network by eliminating senior operatives and destroying strategic infrastructure.
