According to information shared with Al Arabiya by officials familiar with the ongoing talks, Israel is now weighing possible revisions to the current ceasefire and hostage exchange proposal after Hamas rejected the latest version put forth by the United States.
The report indicates that Hamas has shown interest in returning to the negotiation framework first introduced by Qatar in January, suggesting it may prefer that plan over the American draft.
The alterations being discussed are said to revolve around three key areas, with particular emphasis on where and how far IDF troops would redeploy within Gaza during a truce, and the timeline for a full military pullback.
Palestinian Arab insiders stated that Hamas is calling for Israeli forces to retreat by 700 meters inside the Gaza Strip, and in some sections, as much as 1.1 kilometers.
Still, the group may be open to some flexibility regarding the exact positions of Israeli troops in the field.
That said, Hamas remains adamantly against any continued IDF presence along the critical Morag Corridor in southern Gaza, reportedly viewing it as non-negotiable.
