In a moving event that drew Gedolei Yisroel, families, and supporters from across the country, 56 young orphans marked their bar mitzvah together today in a powerful display of achdus, simchah, and kavod haTorah. The celebration, organized by the Ze LaZe organization and held at Yerushalayim Binyanei HaUma convention center, was broadcast live to Jewish communities around the world.
The boys, each of whom lost a parent and has been guided through their pain and growth by the mentors of Ze LaZe’s “Bnei Melachim” program, were honored in a majestic and heartfelt celebration. After months of emotional preparation, the event marked not just a milestone in age, but a triumph of resilience and hope over loss.
The excitement in the hall was palpable as the young bar mitzvah bochurim—surrounded by their families, mentors, and rabbonim—danced their way into their new stage of life. With live music, warm blessings, and stirring words of chizuk, the event captured both the heartbreak of their journeys and the strength they have shown in facing life without their fathers.
Ze LaZe’s “Bnei Melachim” initiative accompanies orphaned children from the moment of tragedy, providing long-term personal mentorship and emotional support. The annual bar mitzvah celebration is a highlight of the program—intended to fill, even if only partially, the gaping hole left by the absence of a father on this significant day.
The event was organized with the support of the Yerushalayim Municipality, under the leadership of Mayor Moshe Lion, and the Department for Torah Culture.
