Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, struck a defiant tone on Wednesday, insisting that Tehran will not yield to President Trump’s demands or be intimidated by his threats regarding Iran’s role in the war with Israel.
“The US President threatens us. With his absurd rhetoric, he demands that the Iranian people surrender to him. They should make threats against those who are afraid of being threatened. The Iranian nation isn’t frightened by such threats,” Khamenei wrote in a post on X.
He went on to issue a stern warning that Iran would not retreat under pressure and cautioned that any military move by the United States would bring about catastrophic repercussions.
“The US entering in this matter is 100% to its own detriment. The damage it will suffer will be far greater than any harm that Iran may encounter,” he raged.
Khamenei also suggested that Washington may have played a direct role in the Israeli offensive, stating that the connection between the United States and Israel’s latest actions appears increasingly evident.
“It was already suspected that the US was involved in the malicious move carried out by the Zionist regime, but considering their recent remarks, this suspicion is growing stronger day by day.”
His comments mirrored sentiments expressed earlier in a prerecorded address broadcast on Iranian state TV, shortly after President Trump called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender” and issued a sharp personal warning to Khamenei.
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
“But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
