On Shabbos afternoon in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, two Jews were assaulted during an attempted stabbing incident. The attack took place around 12:30 PM at the intersection of Union St and Albany Ave when the assailant, without warning, approached one of the victims and tried to stab him in the neck with a sharp object. Fortunately, the victim managed to avoid severe harm. The attacker then pushed the second victim to the ground, injuring him, and proceeded to threaten others in the vicinity.
It appeared that the victims were specifically targeted due to their Jewish identity, as the attacker bypassed a non-Jewish individual to reach them. A bystander immediately alerted Crown Heights Shmira, whose volunteers responded quickly, apprehended the assailant, and held him until the NYPD arrived and took him into custody.
Hatzalah treated both victims for their injuries.
