CNN’s State of the Union erupted into a fiery clash on Sunday as Republican strategist Scott Jennings tore apart the panel’s defense of President Joe Biden’s record, delivering a scathing takedown of Biden’s presidency just weeks before he leaves office. The panel, led by Dana Bash, was tasked with reflecting on Biden’s legacy. While Democratic contributor Karen Finney attempted to frame Biden’s term in a positive light, Jennings wasted no time dismantling her arguments, citing the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal, surging inflation, and what he described as a White House “cover-up” of Biden’s mental decline.

A passenger plane skidded off a runway at a South Korean airport Sunday, slammed into a concrete fence and burst into flames after its front landing gear apparently failed to deploy. All but two of the 181 people on board died in one of the country’s worst aviation disasters. The Jeju Air plane crashed while landing in the town of Muan, about 290 kilometers (180 miles) south of Seoul. The Transport Ministry said the plane was a 15-year-old Boeing 737-800 jet that had arrived from Bangkok and that the crash happened at 9:03 a.m. A total of 179 people — 85 women, 84 men and 10 others whose genders weren’t immediately identifiable — died in the fire, the South Korean fire agency said. Emergency workers pulled two people, both crew members, to safety.

Red alert sirens were activated across central Israel early Friday morning, following the launch of a missile from Yemen. This marks the fifth time in the past eight days that missiles were fired from Yemen at Israel. The missile strike came just 12 hours after the IDF carried out a series of airstrikes targeting Houthi terror infrastructure in Yemen. In response to the sirens, the IDF confirmed that one missile, fired from Yemen, was successfully intercepted before it could enter Israeli airspace. Rocket and missile sirens were also activated in areas where there was a concern that falling debris from the intercepted missile could pose a threat to the public. According to Magen David Adom, there have been no direct reports of injuries.

A former senior member of the Revolutionary Guards, Ali Abdi, who currently serves as a commentator on various television channels in Iran, warned in an interview he gave to one of the channels that Iran will pay a steep price for starting a war against Israel, Channel 14 News reported. Abdi – who frequently threatens Israel and has “foreseen” its destruction multiple times – admits that Iran will pay a high price for the war against Israel that “will be recorded in the annals of history.” Abdi said that once Iran started up with Israel and Netanyahu, it should have finished the job [i.e. destroy Israel]. “Instead, Netanyahu will do it and finish off the job. There is no doubt.
