HaRav Mendelson, who serves as the Nasi of the Keren HaShaviis, is the son of the famed Rav of Komemmiyut, HaTzaddik HaGaon Binyamin Mendelson, z’tl. Last week, a group of farmers traveled from the northern town of Beit She’an to visit HaRav Mendelson at his home of Yerushalayim. The group, led by farmers Michoel and Oded Korkin, told the Rav that if the winter continues with no rain, as has been the situation so far, the seeds in the field will wither and die and the farmers will suffer tremendous financial losses. They asked HaRav Mendelson for a bracha.

The Federal Aviation Administration has launched an investigation after a private jet carrying the Gonzaga University men’s basketball team nearly crossed a runway as another flight was taking off Friday at Los Angeles International Airport. The plane operated by Key Lime Air was ordered by air traffic controllers to stop as a Delta aircraft took off. No one was injured. “Air traffic controllers directed Key Lime Air Flight 563 to hold short of crossing a runway at Los Angeles International Airport because a second aircraft was taking off from the runway at the time,” the FAA said in a statement. “When the Embraer E135 jet proceeded to cross the hold bars, air traffic controllers told the pilots to stop.

The event served as a poignant tribute, ensuring their legacies continue to inspire the community and beyond.

In a deeply moving moment, a 104-year-old Holocaust survivor participated in a menorah lighting ceremony at Ohalei Yoseph Yitzchak, a shul in Toronto where – remarkably – she still davens every Shabbos. The ceremony, led by Rabbi Yirmi Cohen, brought together members of the community and dignitaries to mark the fourth night of Chanukah. Among those in attendance were Minister Ya’ara Saks, Canada’s Minister of Mental Health, and Toronto City Councilor James Pasternak, one of the few Jewish representatives on the city council. The survivor’s presence and active participation in shul life serve as a testament to the enduring strength of the Jewish spirit. Despite her age and the hardships she has endured, she continues to find solace and connection within the walls of her shul.

Interpol recently issued an international arrest warrant for Lev Tahor leader Jonathan Emanuel Cardona Castillo on charges of human trafficking, assault, and child abuse. The Interpol notification was approved by the prosecution in Guatemala and the national civil police. Castillo, who was born in El Salvador and was “megayeir” via the Lev Tahor cult, is accused of severe child abuse. Sources familiar with the matter say that he is known for his cruelty and is essentially the one doing all the dirty work of the cult. Last August, several survivors of the Lev Tahor cult arrived at the cult’s compound in Guatemala to try to meet their family members still in the cult and were confronted by Castillo and other cult members.
