The IDF announced on Sunday morning the death of Sergeant First Class (res.) Noam Shemesh, a 21-year-old from Yerushalayim, who was serving as a squad commander in the Shimshon Battalion (92) of the Kfir Brigade. He was killed in action during fighting in the southern part of the Gaza Strip.
With his passing, the total number of Israeli military personnel who have died since the beginning of the war has reached 867. Of those, 424 soldiers have fallen since the ground operation in Gaza commenced.
