Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara has decided that the babies of bnei yeshivos who are required to enlist will be pushed to the end of the line for acceptance into supervised daycare centers, and as a result, there is a high probability that they will not be accepted, Kan News reported on Tuesday evening. According to her decision, the “law requires” that the children of bnei yeshivos be placed at the end of the line for these daycare centers, where the number of places is very limited, because their fathers are “lawbreakers.” Baharav-Miara previously revoked daycare subsidies for children of bnei yeshivos.

The IDF announced early Wednesday that Staff Sergeant Danilo Mocanu, 20, from Holon, lost his life while engaged in fighting in southern Gaza.
Mocanu was a member of the 51st Company within the 82nd Battalion of the IDF’s 7th Brigade.
Since the beginning of the current war, the total number of Israeli soldiers who have been killed now stands at 858.
The fatal incident that claimed Mocanu’s life also left another soldier with minor injuries. That soldier was transported to a hospital and is receiving treatment. The injured soldier’s family has been informed.
Mocanu and his comrade were operating inside a structure that collapsed after being hit by an explosive charge that detonated during their mission.

President Donald Trump is reportedly growing increasingly impatient with the prolonged conflict in Gaza, viewing it as the final barrier to unlocking economic growth and regional stability in the Middle East. A report on Tuesday, citing White House sources and published by Axios, said Trump wants Israeli leadership to bring the war to a close.
In recent days, the report says Trump has urged Israel to allow humanitarian assistance into Gaza after a complete halt in aid deliveries that began in early March. The push for aid access comes amid Trump’s rising concerns over the human toll of the war.

A tragic incident in the southern Gaza Strip claimed the life of an Israeli soldier during combat operations on Monday. The fallen soldier was identified as Staff Sgt. Danilo Mocanu, 20, a member of the 7th Armored Brigade’s 82nd Battalion, from Holon. An initial IDF investigation revealed that Mocanu was killed when a building collapsed following the detonation of an explosive device. The IDF also reported that another soldier sustained minor injuries in the same incident.

The Justice Department has opened a criminal investigation into former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo after congressional Republicans recommended that he be charged with lying over his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, a person familiar with the matter said Tuesday. The investigation by the U.S. attorney’s office in Washington follows a referral from Rep. James Comer, Republican chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, over statements Cuomo made to lawmakers investigating his management of the pandemic when the virus was spreading through nursing homes, the person said. They spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy revealed on Tuesday that the UK is putting a stop to negotiations for a new free trade agreement with Israel. This decision is part of a series of retaliatory steps, including placing sanctions on specific West Bank settlers, in protest of Israel’s handling of its military campaign against Hamas in Gaza.
The move came on the heels of remarks by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who expressed deep dismay over Israel’s intensifying ground operations in the coastal enclave. He said he was “horrified” by what he viewed as the escalation in Gaza.

The U.S. Department of Justice has opened a civil rights investigation into hiring practices at the city of Chicago, according to a letter shared on social media and sent to the Chicago mayor’s office. The probes announcement Monday came a day after Mayor Brandon Johnson spoke at a Chicago church to outline his vision for the remainder of his term. During the speech, Johnson praised the number of Black people in top positions in his administration. The speech garnered immediate attention on social media, including calls from conservatives and others to investigate.

When it came to protecting her husband, a blind man can see that Doctor Jill Biden serially violated the Hippocratic Oath’s pledge to “first do no harm.” And some are now floating the idea of filing criminal charges against her for elder abuse.
And yes, I realize that Jill Biden is not a doctor-doctor. By any definition, though, she’s one heartless doctor.
Leo Terrell, a senior Department of Justice official, is someone suggesting our former first lady could face criminal charges for elder abuse.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Justice has launched an investigation into former New York Governor and current New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo, following allegations that he lied to Congress about his administration’s COVID-19 response, CNN reported Tuesday.

Democrat Sam Sutton has emerged victorious in a closely watched special election for a seat in the New York state Senate, successfully holding off a Republican push to capture the traditionally right-leaning district, according to projections by Decision Desk HQ.
Sutton, a longtime nonprofit leader and businessman, defeated Republican challenger Nachman Caller, a lawyer who previously made an unsuccessful bid for the state Assembly ten years ago.
With this win, Democrats retain control of the seat vacated by Simcha Felder, who stepped down last month to assume a position on the New York City Council.

Ehud Olmert, who once held the position of Israel’s prime minister, criticized Israel’s current military actions in Gaza, telling the BBC on Tuesday that the situation “is very close to a war crime.” He continued, “Thousands of innocent Palestinians are being killed, as well as many Israeli soldiers.”
Olmert expressed deep doubts about the military operation, stating, “the war has no objective and has no chance of achieving anything that could save the lives of the hostages.” He clarified, “We are fighting Hamas murderers, we are not fighting innocent civilians, and this must be clear.”

President Donald Trump’s administration is trying to merge the government’s wildland firefighting efforts into a single agency, a move some former federal officials warn could increase the risk of catastrophic blazes and ultimately cost billions of dollars. Trump’s budget would centralize firefighting efforts now split among five agencies and two Cabinet departments into a single Federal Wildland Fire Service under the U.S. Interior Department. That would mean shifting thousands of personnel from the U.S. Forest Service — where most federal firefighters now work — into the new agency with fire season already underway. Budget documents do not disclose how much the change could cost or save.

Federal authorities have reportedly initiated a criminal probe targeting Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York, over accusations that he misled Congress concerning the number of COVID-19 fatalities in state-run nursing homes during the height of the pandemic.
The investigation, which centers around Cuomo, now a leading candidate in the upcoming New York City mayoral race, began roughly four weeks ago, according to the New York Times, which cited two individuals familiar with the case. The inquiry is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C.
At the time the probe was launched, the D.C. office was under the direction of Ed Martin, who has since been succeeded by Jeanine Pirro earlier this month.

Joe Biden’s last recorded Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) test, a standard method for detecting prostate cancer, was performed in 2014 during his time as vice president under Barack Obama, according to a statement released Tuesday by a spokesperson from Biden’s office.
“Prior to Friday, President Biden had never been diagnosed with prostate cancer,” the spokesperson stated, pushing back against speculation that the 82-year-old may have been privately dealing with the illness during his time in the White House.

BROOKLYN – In a closely watched special election Tuesday, Democrat Sam Sutton defeated Republican and Conservative nominee Nachman Caller to win New York’s 22nd State Sen

Sam Sutton, a prominent Sephardic community leader and co-head of the Sephardic Community Federation, has won the special election to replace former State Senator Simcha Felder, who recently vacated his seat after winning a spot on the New York City Council. Sutton, running as the Democratic nominee, defeated longtime Republican district leader Carl (Nachman) Caller in a closely watched race that will shape the future of South Brooklyn’s representation in Albany. The district includes parts of Boro Park, Midwood, and Flatbush — neighborhoods with large Orthodox Jewish populations.

Yarden Bibas, one of the hostages who was freed from Hamas captivity, shared a personal account of encountering Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar while being held in Gaza. During that period, Sinwar permitted Bibas to remain alongside his closest friend, David Cunio, for about two weeks before the two were eventually split up.
“David is my best friend, he has been with me my whole life,” Bibas told Channel 12 in an interview.
Bibas recalled seeing Cunio on November 27, 2023—the day Cunio’s wife, Sharon Aloni Cunio, and their twin daughters were released in a short-term truce deal between Israel and Hamas.
