The IDF continues to ramp up military activity in the Rafah area of southern Gaza, where troops have eliminated several terrorists, carried out targeted raids on militant infrastructure, and uncovered large stockpiles of weapons. On Tuesday, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) successfully eliminated Raef Omar Salman Abu Shab, the commander of the rocket-launching unit within Hamas’ eastern Khan Yunis battalion. Abu Shab had been orchestrating rocket attacks from Khan Yunis, targeting southern and central Israel since the onset of the conflict. In addition, IDF troops remain active in the central Gaza Strip, where several terrorists posing an immediate threat to Israeli forces were neutralized in the past day.

The Chief Rabbi of Tehran HaRav Yehudah Gerami traveled to Shiraz last week to recite Selichos with the children of the kehilla. Following the recital of Selichos, HaRav Gerami blew the shofar for the children. [It should be noted that the event required much dedication from Rav Gerami as Shiraz is quite far from Tehran (over 9 hours by car). The majority of the Jews in Iran live in Tehran, the capital and largest city in the Tehran Province. About 2,000 Jews live in the southwestern city of Shiraz, the fourth-most populous city in Iran and the capital of Fars Province. Apart from Shiraz, there are about 1,200 Jews in Isfahan, a kehilla in Kermanshah, and smaller kehillos in Yazd and other cities. (YWN Israel Desk – Jerusalem)

Tensions surrounding Israel’s conflict with Hamas flared at Harvard University on Friday, as anti-Israel protesters marched through campus chanting “Long live the intifada” and “Globalize the intifada.” The demonstration took place just three days after the start of classes, indicating that the summer break had done little to reduce the campus divide over the war in Gaza. Despite the heavy police presence, the protest, organized by Harvard Out of Occupied Palestine (HOOP), proceeded without incident, according to the Harvard Crimson. Approximately 80 protesters participated in the march, which concluded with a rally outside a campus building where Harvard’s interim president, Alan Garber, met with HOOP representatives.

Hamas has released another propaganda video featuring American-Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin HY’D, who was executed last week. The video was made public with the permission of his family. In a statement, the family said the video “must serve as an immediate wakeup call to the world to act today to secure the release of the remaining 101 hostages before it is too late.” “No other family should endure what we went through,” the family added. They are still observing the seven-day Jewish mourning period, having buried Hersh on Monday after his body, along with those of five other murdered hostages, was recovered by the IDF on Saturday. In the video, Goldberg-Polin speaks in English, a departure from a previous video released by Hamas in April, where he spoke in Hebrew.

A new CNN poll reveals Vice President Kamala Harris facing challenges in winning over non-college-educated white men in six crucial battleground states, potentially spelling trouble for her campaign. The poll shows Harris and Trump essentially tied in key states like Nevada, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. However, Harris struggles with non-college-educated white men, a constituency that overwhelmingly supports Trump. CNN political director David Chalian noted, “If you look at the white voters without college degrees, this is a Trump base constituency… You see his huge numbers with this group, you see that this is a trouble sign for Harris.” In contrast, black voters overwhelmingly support Harris, with 86% in Michigan, 85% in Georgia, and 84% in Pennsylvania backing her.

Hamas released a video on Wednesday showing two of the hostages whose bodies were found by Israeli forces last week in a tunnel in Gaza. The clip, shared on a Hamas Telegram channel, features Carmel Gat, 40, and Alex Lobanov, 32, two of the six captives discovered executed after months of captivity. Hamas has previously published similar hostage videos, which Israel says are part of a psychological warfare campaign. The latest footage adds to the grim reality of the hostages’ treatment and the urgency surrounding their fate. The six hostages — Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Eden Yerushalmi, Ori Danino, Alex Lobanov, Carmel Gat, and Almog Sarusi — were killed just days before their bodies were recovered, according to IDF reports and autopsies.
