On Tuesday night, a huge memorial was held with the participation of more than 1,000 chareidim in memory of the fallen IDF soldiers. MK Yaakov Margi, on behalf of the Shas faction that participated in the event, said that “this is a historic day and hence there is no turning back.” The public read Mishnayos and Tehillim in memory of the fallen, and Kaddish was said.
In Kar Etzion on Wednesday a memorial ceremony was held near Kfar Etzion, attended by Shas Chairman Minister Aryeh Deri, Etzion Brigade Commander Colonel David Shapira and Gush Etzion Regional Council Chairman Shlomo Neeman, with the participation of bereaved families and thousands of others.
Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman on Wednesday morning participated in the Remembrance Day memorial in the Kiryat Gat cemetery.
Litzman placed a wreath as is customary for ministers, and then recited a perek Tehillim in memory of the fallen, then speaking as a representative of the government.
An 80-year-old woman was struck and killed by a truck on David Raziel Blvd. in Ramle at about 9:30AM Wednesday morning, Remembrance Day in Israel.
MDA paramedics reported the woman sustained severe multisystem trauma and she was pronounced dead on the scene. Read more on Yeshiva World News
As Israel prepared to observe yet another Remembrance Day, the Neturi Karta extremists did not disappoint as they were out at Jerusalem’s Kikar Shabbos to protest the day.
At some point on Tuesday night, they tore an Israeli flag off of an Egged bus that was halted due to their protest.
